Major Rules 2010
Managers are responsible for passing out this set of rules
to umpires and field managers.
Field Dimensions: Pitching: 40 ft
Bases: 60 ft
Equipment:
Home team will supply 1 new and 1 good used Baden SAF10S ball or equivalent.
Catchers must wear full protective gear including throat protector and cup.
There are no bat restrictions in farm major.
Roster rules:
Farm Major is for players age 7 or 8 born on or between June 1, 2001 and May 31,
2003
Players younger than 7 years old need a signed release to move up.
Communities may release players to adjoining communities. These players require
a release to be completed and signed by the community’s personnel directors and
parents or legal guardian. There is no limit on the number of players on a team.
Playing rules:
- On defense a team will field 10 players ( i.e. 4
outfielders). Outfielders must be distinct from infielders (umpires
discretion).
- At most 2 coaches may be on the field for defensive
instruction.
- Each player must play at least 2 consecutive innings
in the field or 12 consecutive outs. Defensive subs must be in by top of the
3rd inning.
- A player may be benched for disciplinary reasons but
must be stated at ground rules before start of game.
- Each team will have a continuous batting order, i.e.
every player present will be in the line up. Players arriving late will be
placed at the end of the line up.
- Games will be 7 innings. The first 3 are coach pitch,
and the last 4 are player pitch
- Maximum of 10 batters per inning. 10th
batter can not walk during player pitch.
- The infield fly rule will not be in effect
- An at bat will be 10 batters, 5 runs, or three (3)
outs which ever happens first.
- The 7th inning a team can score unlimited
runs.
- The 2 hour time limit will be in effect if a team is
winning by ten (10) runs or more. ( 4 ½ innings home team 5 innings visiting
team.) Rule 4.10 of the white book
- All play will come to an end when a logical conclusion
of the play comes to an end. (i.e. infielder holding the baseball in the
infield, the lead runner stopping his forward progress ) This is a judgment
call by the umpire. Rule 7.14 of the white rule book.
- When the 10th batter comes to the plate any
out ends the inning.
- PROTESTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED !!!
- No arguing please !!!
Coach Pitch:
- A coach of the team at bat will pitch each half
inning. (relief pitching is allowed)
- The defensive pitcher will stand along side the coach
that is pitching.
- Each batter will receive at most 6 pitches. If batter
fails to hit the ball in fair territory after receiving 6 pitches he shall
be declared out.
- Maximum of 10 batters, 5 runs, or 3 outs per inning.
Which ever happens first.
- Stealing and leading off bases are not permitted.
- If a batted ball hits the coach pitching it is live
unless he catches it out of reflex. In this case the ball is dead and the
batter gets first base, and forced runners advance one base.
- During any at bat pitched by a coach balls and strikes
will not be called.
- The coach that is pitching is not allowed to give any
instructions to his runners.
- Coaches must make every attempt to avoid interference with ball once it is
hit.
Player Pitch:
- Pitchers are allowed to pitch 2 innings maximum per
game. An out constitutes one third (1/3 ) of an inning.
- Strike outs, bunting , walks, etc, are allowed during
player portion of the game. (except the 10th batter of an inning
can’t walk)
- If the 10th batter walks the at bat
proceeds back to the coach pitch rule #3.
- The ball is dead from the catcher to the pitcher.
- Balks and third strike rule will not be in effect.
- Maximum 10 batters, 5 runs, or 3 outs per inning.
Which ever happens first. (except 7th inning)
Umpires:
- Two 13-14 year olds may umpire games, or one adult may
umpire games.
- Coaches are allowed to explain rules situations etc.
during games.(coaches must use discretion)
- Weekday games start at 6:30 pm, weekend games start at
5:00 pm. Managers may agree to start at a different time
